Bank of Saint Lucia Boosts Carnival’s Creativity
June 11, 2010
The carnival season has officially started and a leading financial organization has given a major contribution towards safeguarding the festival’s creative dimension. Bank of Saint Lucia presented just over $10,000.00 to the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) at its official carnival press launch held on June 4th.
The majority of the bank’s contribution will go towards the prize money for the King and Queen of the Bands Competition for both the junior and senior categories. This is the second consecutive year that Bank of Saint Lucia has contributed in this way to the competition. The bank is also supporting Kiddies Carnival by donating the trophy that will be presented to the Kiddies Carnival Band of the Year for 2010.
In his remarks at the launch, the bank’s Senior Marketing Officer, Jahn Sifflet, said that as an indigenous financial entity, Bank of Saint Lucia is keen to preserve the artistic elements of carnival. Through its support of both the King and Queen of the Bands Competition and Kiddies Carnival, the bank hopes to encourage the festival’s developmental nature which is key to its growth and survival. This year’s Carnival season was officially launched on June 6th and will culminate with the Parade of the Bands on July 19th and 20th.
