EC Global/Mabouya Valley Youth Football Kicks Off Sunday

Youth football in Dennery will go to another level when the inaugural EC Global/Mabouya Valley Under 20 Football Tournament gets underway this Sunday, August 22nd. The tournament promises to deliver intense and lively competitive action among eight teams for the next three weeks at the La Ressource Playing Field. The tournament is being hosted and organized by the Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Council who are collaborating with EC Global on the competition. There will be an opening ceremony and team parade to formally launch the competition on that day. 

EC Global, the insurance arm of the East Caribbean Financial Holding Group (ECFH), has decided to invest in this youth and sport -oriented initiative in Dennery as a way of contributing to rural human resource development. The company believes that for Saint Lucia’s overall socio-economic progress, youth from across the island need to be motivated and challenged, and sport is one of the most accessible and enjoyable ways to achieve this. EC Global is also title sponsor of a schools chess tournament in collaboration with the National Community Foundation (NCF), further evidence of its commitment to youth development.

The Mabouya Valley Youth and Sports Council’s executive have expressed their gratitude to EC Global for its ‘investment in the youth of the Dennery Valley’ and that ‘this venture will go a long way in helping the young men cultivate their talent...’.  EC Global and its parent company have committed $6000.00 to the tournament whose first match kicks off at 4:30 p.m. This will be a knock-out tournament among teams drawn from communities across Dennery.
